Game Synopsis

Having now realized the technicalities of producing the game, some of the previous ideas are no longer appropriate. The main element which will no longer be necessary is the "Time Crisis" take-cover system - the opponents will not be firing back at the player, therefore making the feature obsolete.

The targets can however take some form of cover - similar to traditional western carnival shootout games where opponents spin on wooden boards. With this game being more modern game than that, the targets will not be on wooden boards and will as I previously described, will take cover moving behind objects in the scene.

To summarize, the final game synopsis is as follows;

The game is to be set in the western period (the traditional carnival shooter style game) however the modern twist is the addition of sci-fi, inspired by the new hit film, "Cowboys & Aliens".

The scene for the level has a variety of options including the desert, a wild western town or even inside a western saloon. This will be decided upon completion of "initial design ideas".

As hinted above, the opponents will be aliens. The typical "martian" character is currently intended, however as mentioned above with the scene, design ideas will decide the final outcome.

The player is set to be a western cowboy/cowgirl, although with the game being 1st person only their weapon will suggest this.

Therefore the character will be armed with a typical western style rifle, as featured in my research. This may or may not be upgradable - depending on time and technicalities.

The game will conclude once a countdown timer expires, signaling the end of the round and the enemy attack.

Note that changes may be made during the course of the project so the above may become obsolete at a later date.
